1.Winter Solstice(21 st December)
- It is the astronomical moment when the Sun reaches the Tropic of Capricorn, there are the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere in terms of daylight.
- On this day, North Pole is most tilted away from the Sun.
- Earth'saxisof rotation is tilted at an angle of 23.4°to to its orbital plane.
- This tilt combined with factors such as Earth's spin and orbit leads to variations in the duration of sunlight
- that any location on the planet receives on different days of the year.

2.Khudiram Bose
- He was born in 1889 in Midnapore district, West Bengal.
- He was one of the youngeS1 leaders of the Independence movement and actively participated in protests against the British in 1905 when Bengal was partitioned.
- He joined the Anushilan Samiti (an organization that propounded revolutionary activities in Bengal).
- He is most remembered for Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case (1908), along with Prafulla Chaki for his attempt to assassinate the British judge, Magistrate Douglas Kingsford.

3.Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
- Egypt is offering Incentives for Indian pharma companies to invest in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
- SCZone is located around the main international maritime route, Suez Canal Passageway, which is considered the international trunk route that connects Europe and East North America via the Suez Canal with Asia.
- Suez Canal connects the Mediterranean and the Red seas.

4.Sub-Surface Porous Vessels(SSPV)
- It is a new model of minor irrigation (supported by llT Delhi) to benefit farmers with small landholdings in villages of the Thar desert.
- An SSPV is made of location-specific clay and sawdust, mixed in a proportion to suit desert sand, press-formed to frustum shape, and baked at a temperature of 750-800 degree Celsius with the addition of a carbon layer in its structure.
- Experiments have indicated a higher yield of farm produce and improvement in the nutrient value of soil her the installation of SSPV.

5.Election Commission (EC) Looking at vote from workplace EVM's
- EC is examining a plan to allow migrants to vote for a candidate in their home constituencies from anywhere in the country.
- The proposal under discussion involves ushering in a new-age electronic voting machine (EVMs) that will have a dynamic candidate's list to enable voting for a contestant in one's home constituency.
- It is suggested by a seven-member technical advisory group was set up to develop a 'remote voting framework'.
