1.United Nations Development Programme Faces corruption, fraud allocation atClimate project: Report
- Report identified financial misstatements worth millions of dollars across UNDP's portfolio of Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded projects around the world.
- GEF was set up in 1991 by World Bank, UNOP, and UN Environment Program to help fight environmental
- challenges such as deforestation, species conservation, and pollution.
- UNDP works to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress.
- As the UN's development agency, UNOP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

2. Financial Action Task Force(FATF)Join Experts Meet
- During the meet, FATF apprised experts from both public and private sectors about the latest risk findings related to money laundering and terror-funding.
- FATF is an inter-governmental body established in 1989 to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system.

3.Fifth BRICS Media forum Meeting Held
- It is a high-level dialogue among media organizations from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa that aims to establish an efficient coordination mechanism among BRICS media and advance innovation-driven media development.
- Representatives called for the five nations to work together to jointly combat fake news in the pandemic era.

- Deployment of technologies like Artificial Intelligence, in the fight against disinformation, especially large-scale Online harms.

4.Irans parliament ratifies "strategic measure for the removable of sanction" Bill
- It is aimed at revitalizing Iran'snuclear activities.
- This bill was passed after the failure of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to fulfill I ran s interests and in the wake of the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
- JCPOA was signed In 2015between Iran and the PS+l group -U.S., U.K, France, Russia, China, and Germany.
- It was signed to stop Iran from producing its own nuclear weapons and set up a framework to which Iran was allowed to enrich uranium.

5.Indian Energy Exchange
- Recently, traded volumes in electricity at IEX have grown by a strong 25% in 2020 in the first ten months.
- IEX is the first and largest energy exchange in India providing a nationwide, automated trading platform for physical delivery of electricity, Renewable Energy Certificates, and Energy Saving Certificates.
- It Is regulated by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
- Another power exchange in India is Power Exchange India Ltd (PX.IL).

6.Siberain Primrose
- Researchers have claimed that Siberian primrose species may not be able to adapt to quickly progressing climate change, which could potentially lead to its extinction.
- It is a plant endemic to the Nordic countries (Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland). It is specialized ingrowing on seashore meadows with low vegetation.

7.Mount Lil Lewotolo
- It is a volcanic mountain of Indonesia, located on lembatia island, that has been erupting frequently since 2017.
- It is one of three currently erupting in Indonesia along with Merapi on Java island and Sinabung on Sumatra island.
- They are among more than 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which is prone to seismic upheaval due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, an arc of volcanoes and fault lines around the Pacific Ocean.

8.Indian Navy's Marine Commandos(INMC)
- Recently, MARCOS were deployed near Pangong lake to enhance the integration of the three services and proVide the naval commandos exposure to extreme cold weather conditions.
- MARCOS, also known by Marine Commando Force (MCF), is a special forces unit that was raised by the Indian Navy in 1987 for direct action, special reconnaissance, amphibious warfare, and counter-terrorism.
- MARCOS are capable of undertaking operations in all types of terrain but are specialized in maritime operations.

9.Government Constitutes APEX Committee for the implementation of the Paris Agreement(AIPA)
- AIPA is a 17 member inter-mlnis1erial committee constituted to ensure
- Coordinated response on climate change matters that protect the country's Interests.
- India is on track towards meeting its climate change obligations under the Paris Agreement
- including its submitted Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
- AIPA has been constituted under Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will be the chairperson of AIPA.
- Functions of AIPA
- Coordinate communication and reporting of NDCs to UN FCCC.
- Under Paris Agreement, countries will engage in Global Stocktake every five years to assess collective progress towards the Agreement's long-term goals.
- Develop policies and programs, to make India's domestic climate actions compliant with international obligations and assign responsibilities to concerned ministries.
- Function as a National Authority to regulate carbon markets in India, under Article 6 of Paris Agreement in the post-2020 period.
- Article 6 deals with the carbon market,non-market and voluntary approaches.
- Take note of the private sector's contributions to combating climate change.
- >Seek guidance from and provide inputs to Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change.

10.Election Commission(EC)
- JSA, under its JSA care program, is working on making around 500 hospitals across 47 of the least developed and small island developing member countries run on electricity generated from Sun.
- It will help in powering cold storages to store coronavirus vaccine, running computers for inventory management, and respirators in remote areas of these countries.
- ISA care program was launched to solarise primary health centers in member countries, which requires cold storage facilities for vaccines and medicines.
- The development comes against the backdrop of India's stand of using its vaccine production capacity in the global fight against COVID-19 and helping countries enhance their cold chain and storage capacities for vaccine delivery.
- It will also aid inIndia's vaccine diplomacy. During the initial days of the pandemic, India had also supplied paracetamol and hydroxycholoroquine to around 150 countries.

- It was launched by France and India during Climate Conference in Parisin 2015. The aim is to remove obstacles to the massive deployment of solar energy in terms of technology, finance, and capacity.
