1. External Affairs Minister represented India at 15th East Asia Summit 2020
- External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar represented India at the 15th East Asia Summit 2020.
- It discussed ways to strengthen the platform and to make it more responsive to emerging challenges on its 15th anniversary.
- The virtual summit was chaired by Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
- It is a regional grouping of 18 countries i.e. 10 ASEAN countries besides Australia, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia and the United States.
2.BRICS STI Declaration 2020 adopted at BRICS Ministerial Summit
- The 8th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Ministerial meeting unanimously has adopted BRICS STI Declaration 2020.
- Science and Technology cooperation among the member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa was discussed in the meeting.
- During the meeting Dr Harsh Vardhan highlighted that the COVID 19 pandemic has been a test, demonstrating that multilateral cooperation is the key to overcoming such global challenges.
3.Bangladeshi teen wins International Children’s Peace Prize
- A Bangladeshi teen Sadat Rahman has been awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize for his work to stop cyberbullying of teens.
- The award was given away by the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai during a ceremony in the Netherlands.
- The prize is given away by the international children’s rights organization KidsRights.
- The prize was launched by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome.
4. QRSAM Missile System Achieves Major Milestone
- Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) System has achieved a major milestone by a direct hit on to a Banshee Pilotless target aircraft at medium range and medium altitude.
- The missile is propelled by a single-stage solid-propellant rocket motor and uses all indigenous subsystems.
- All QRSAM weapon system elements like Battery Multifunction Radar, Battery Surveillance Radar, Battery Command Post Vehicle and Mobile Launcher were deployed in the flight test.
5. PM inaugurates future-ready Ayurveda institutions at Jamnagar and Jaipur
- The PM Narendra Modi dedicated two future-ready Ayurveda institutions to the nation on the 5th Ayurveda Day today via video conferencing.
- These are the Institute of Teaching & Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar and the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur.
- Both the Institutes are premier institutions of Ayurveda in the country.
- The Ministry of AYUSH, since 2016, has been observing ‘Ayurveda Day’ every year on the occasion of Dhanwantari Jayanti (Dhanteras).
