List Of New Sainik Schools In India

The Sainik School Society has announced the list of new Sainik Schools for the academic year 2025, aiming to expand quality education and prepare students for careers in the armed forces. The Ministry of Defence has provisionally approved 23 new Sainik Schools, with 19 already functioning across different states. These schools are established under a public-private partnership model to provide an affordable and holistic education system. Students from Class 6 onwards can apply by completing the Sainik School Admission Form 2025. Below is the complete list of newly approved Sainik Schools.

What Are New Sainik Schools ?

New Sainik Schools are a recent initiative by the Sainik Schools Society, which operates under the Ministry of Defence. These schools are established in collaboration with NGOs, private schools, and state governments, making use of existing facilities. They follow the disciplined Sainik School curriculum, designed to prepare students mainly for careers in the defense services.

Admission Process For New Sainik School

Eligibility
Admissions to New Sainik Schools (NSS) are currently open for Class VI students only. Students must be between 10 and 12 years old, following the same criteria as regular Sainik Schools.

Entrance Exam
To get admission, students must pass the All-India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). This test ensures a fair and uniform selection process for both traditional and new Sainik Schools.

Counseling and Selection
After the exam, students are invited for an online counseling session. Based on their AISSEE scores, admissions are granted according to merit and available seats.

How To Apply For New Sainik School 

To get admission to New Sainik Schools, students must appear for the AISSEE and achieve the required passing marks. Once the results are declared, eligible students need to register for the e-counseling process.

Admissions are based on the AISSEE 2023 rank, and there are two ways to secure a seat in a New Sainik School:

40% Route
At least 40% of the seats in New Sainik Schools will be filled using the All-India Merit List. This list is based on AISSEE ranks, and neither category nor state of residence (domicile) is considered. During counseling, candidates can choose any recognized New Sainik School across India.

60% Route
Up to 60% of the seats are reserved for students already studying in recognized New Sainik Schools. These seats are allocated based on a school-specific merit list, and like the 40% route, category and domicile are not taken into account.
