About RIMC

Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Exam acronym as RIMC Entrance Exam is conducted by Rashtriya Indian Military College on All India basis twice in a year for providing admission to boys in the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun - an Inter-Services Institution and a Category-A establishment of the Ministry of Defence established in 1922 - with the primary aim of preparing the boys for entry into Defence Services and to provide quality all-round education to young boys. Candidates are admitted to the Eighth Class through RIMC Entrance Exam. The RIMC is a feeder institution for the National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy and subsequently the Indian Armed Forces. Rimcollians, the name by which alumni of the RIMC are usually denoted, have gone on to hold the highest ranks in the Army, Navy and the Air Force of India.

Rashtriya Indian Military College 

1. RIMC-Rashtriya Indian Military College is an Inter-Services Institution and a Category 'A' establishment of the Ministry of Defence. The  College was established in 1922 with the primary aim of providing quality all-round education and preparing the boys for entry into Defence Services.

2. Applications are invited for both Boys & Girls for admission to Class VIII in the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, Uttarakhand for the July 2024 Term which will be conducted at specified centers of respective states on 02 Dec 2023. (Tentative as per previous year exam dates)

The RIMC Entrance Examination for Admission to Class VIII in the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun for the July 2024 term will be held at the specified centers within the country on 02 Dec 2023. (Tentative as per previous year exam dates) 

The Candidates will be examined in the following subjects:-

Written Examination in Mathematics (09:30-11:00hrs), General Knowledge (12:00-13:00hrs) and English (14:30-16:30hrs) shall be conducted on 02 Dec 2023 (Tentative as per previous year exam dates) The Interview date will be intimated later. Mathematics and General Knowledge papers may be answered either in Hindi or in English. Minimum Pass Marks in each paper including interview will be 50% and if the candidate fails to secure 50% marks in any paper will be declared ineligible for admission. The Selection of the candidates will be purely on merit.

4. Age Criteria: Boys and Girls are eligible to apply for admission to the RIMC, Dehradun. The candidate should be in the age bracket of 11½ to 13 years as on 01 Jul 2024, i.e., they should not be born earlier than 02 July 2011 and not later than 01 Jan 2013.  The applicants should be informed that no application for change in the date of birth, from that originally given by them, would be entertained later by the college authorities.

5. Documents: Applications in duplicate, along with the documents which are to be attached with the application form to include two passport size photographs, Domicile Certificate of the candidate, Birth Certificate (issued by Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat), SC/ ST Certificate, and Certificate from the Principal of the School in original with a photograph on it attested stating the date of birth and in which Class the student is studying. Application forms should reach the respective State Govts (As given in guidelines to Admission).

6. Only the candidates finally selected after the viva voce will undergo a Medical examination at selected Military Hospitals and only the candidates found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. Candidates should not, consider themselves selected until joining instr to this effect is issued and call up notices are sent to them by the college authorities.

7. Procedure to Obtain Application Forms The prospectus-cum-application form and booklet of old question papers can be obtained from The Rashtriya Indian Military College, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Pin- 248003 by following ways:-

(a) Online Payment The prospectus-cum-application form and booklet of old question papers can also be obtained by making online payment of Rs 600/- for General Candidates & Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates on the RIMC website www.rimc.gov.in  On receipt of the payment the prospectus-cum application form and booklet of old question papers will be dispatched by Speed Post only.

(b) By Sending Demand Draft The prospectus-cum application form and booklet of old question papers can be obtained by sending a written request with a demand draft of Rs 600/- for General Candidates & Rs 555/- for SC/ST candidates along with- caste certificate in favor of "THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN", DRAWEE BRANCH, STATE BANK OF INDIA, TEL BHAVAN, DEHRADUN, {BANK CODE- 01576), UTTARAKHAND. The address should be TYPED/ WRITTEN clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS with pin code and contact number. RIMC will NOT be responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit of prospectus caused by illegible or incomplete address. The delay on part of the postal department is not the responsibility of RIMC.

Note: The application forms issued by RIMC only shall be valid. Applications forms locally printed/photocopied and without RIMC Hologram (Seal) shall not be accepted.No Refund of the Application fee will be done on any condition.

Fee: The Annual Fee is presently Rs. 107500/- for General Candidate and Rs. 93900/- for SC/ST candidates per year. It may increase from time to time. At the time of entry a security deposit of Rs. 30,000/- is to be made (incl in annual fee). This is refunded when the Cadet Graduates from the college.

Scholarships: Scholarships are granted by various state governments to meritorious students. The amount of scholarships varies from state to state and is in between Rs. 10000/- to Rs. 50000/- per annum. Continuation of scholarship once granted by the state is subject to merit, income, discipline, and performance during the year.

Last Date to Apply for RIMC Exam  Applications in duplicate on prescribed form accompanied by documents to be attached with the application form (Two passport size photographs, Domicile Certificate of the candidate, Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat, SC, ST Certificate, and Certificate from the principal of the School in original with a photograph on it attested stating the date of birth and in which Class studying). Application forms should reach the respective State Governments (As given in Guidelines to Admission). Kindly note the Application forms must be sent to the State Governments and not to the RIMC Dehradun.
